Wanted Innovation Managers. The new CIO Chief Innovation Officer, a new position in the organization of Companies, Institutions and Administrations now in fashion and that the crisis has brought here and now most probably to stay.
It was the claim of an Advertising that appeared in one of June’s Economist where I encountered the need for new CIO’s reflected. Wanted Executive Innovation Managers to Direct Innovation within Public Administration Bodies. This ad in particular was for Executive Innovation Managers for Nesta, the British Government Initiative to promote innovation. I must admit that I felt very jealous. Why was a similar post not advertised for Spain?
Last year while presenting our new concept ideas4all.com to some Multinational companies we found out that the old R&D Departments and the now converted into newer R&D+I Research and Development and Innovation had been transformed again into Innovation and Creativity or Innovation and Ideation “Ideation” –the process of ideas- This whole transformation and evolution not jet a revolution had been started by Procter and Gamble over 10 years ago and its new and open to all stakeholders “Connect & Develop Department” now substituting and in place of their old endogamy R&D Dep’t had brought accountable innovation from outside the organization such that over 70% of their innovation comes from their connect outside network.
The conjunction between the need to generate more transforming ideas, the speed at which changes were occurring specially on the web (Gary Hamel said in Barcelona last month “The web is the operating system of our minds”, as well as the crisis, one of the deepest crisis of the recent past, have made that the field of Innovation/Ideation/Creativity becomes a priority for all businesses.
The advertising referred as mentioned to a British Government initiative Nesta and it was about promoting innovation. It made me think and ask myself. When will we see similar ads for Spain? Instead of having such critical positions occupied and designed via finger pointing and picking by Administrations and Companies. It feels good instead when the Market is open to all candidates and all of them have equal access chances and will be chosen according to their CVs, merits, experience and preparation. It is a great idea and innovative to advertise and search for best talent in a prestigious economic publication from any where in the world. The experts advice us that if you believe you are qualified have experience and vocational inclination for innovation, please do not hesitate and apply to the Nesta posts, you will be surprised by how impartial the process will be it’s within the British culture to choose the best.
That very same week a twitter follower suggested me to go to a conference that was going to take place in London June 29 the, un fortunately other condiments did not permit that possibility, if do not know how that conference went, but if any one of you did go please write and tell us about your experience with it in our comments section the conference reference BMGI Break-through management Innovation Group http://www.bmgi.eu/OA/Innovation/011n/
