Any intelligent TV viewer is well conscious that within the TV program there is little imagination and innovation. Formats that are repetitive and formats adapted from other countries make for the most part of the TV program; there is almost no space for truly innovative programs.
La 2, the second channel of the public RTVE, has launched on October, 24th, a new program in which ideas play a double role. On one hand, Ideas factory starts to show precisely this: ideas. Ideas generated by Spanish entrepreneurs, who are willing to bet on innovation and original ideas. The TV show consists of four sections: “Invest”, “Innovate”, “Imitate” and “Invent”. “Invest” is dedicated to new businesses or initiatives, which will be examined; “Imitate” is dedicated to established businessmen; “Invent” is focused on young inventors; and finally “Innovate” is dedicated to give publicity to the institutions which pioneer innovation in our country.
On the other hand, the program itself is the output of an ideas contest launched by the general manager of the TV station, Javier Pons. 800 projects took part. “Ideas factory” started in February last year. Among the 800 presented projects, six have been chosen, and two of them have already had their premiere; “Cabezas de serie” and “La Revuelta”.
Three more projects are in the phase of preparation and will be soon shown on the screens: a magazine on energy saving, a program about disabled persons and a docu-soap on a solar school-boat in Africa.
