Luminous screens showing ads or information to people passing-by are already daily life in urban environments. It is beginning also to be usual using LED light, not only for these large advertising screens, but also for any illumination need. This technology will end up substituting the current low-consumption lights. And we are making this prediction at a moment when the low-consumption lights still have not substituted the old, inefficient incandescent bulbs.
It had to be Dubai, the emirate that apparently wants to break all kind of records in urban planning. In its capital, the highest skyscraper of the world is going to be built – the place where a 33-story LED-screen (approx. 100 meter) will be part of the city´s skyline.
One single figure will give us an exact idea of this screen´s potential: its messages will be seen at a distance of one and a half kilometer, as reported by El País newspaper. The project has been named Podium; it is an idea of the Tameer Company.
