The staff of the magazine “Make and Craft” is organizing now for the fourth consecutive year “Maker Faire”, the fair of creators on May 30th and 31st, 2009, on the show center of San Mateo in California (USA), with the aim of bringing together science, art, handicrafts and engineering, in an atmosphere of music, energy, interaction with the public and emotion.
The fair wants to inspire individuals of any age to “put their hands on the job” and show any kind of invention to a participative and thankful audience. In summary, this is an event to present.
Topics the fair is pursuing are, among others:
* Green Technology (clean and ecological)
* Music: participative interpretation
* 3D and CNC Mill printers
* Textiles arts and handicarfts
* Rockets and RC toys
* Energy for home protection
* Radios, computers and playing systems
* Electric vehicles
* Biology / biotechnology and chemistry projects
* Food and beverage manufacturing
* Unusual tools or machinery
* How to fit things or reuse them (vacuum cleaners, watches, etc)
Individual participants or groups may participate. They have to send a brief presentation of their project and the creator or creators: description of what they do and how they may contribute to the fair. They should do this on the fair´s own website. Interactivity and evidence on the creation process will be evaluated positively.
Registration starts on February, 2nd and ends on March, 31st. If a proposal is accepted, the organization will ask for more detailed information: presentation of the creation, development and demos.
Every participant will get access to a stand of the size 10 x 10 m, at no cost; the organization will only provide the floor. Transport costs and the stay, as well as the material exhibited have to be paid for by the participants. For more information, please contact. email@example.com.
