Google launches its idea contest for changing the world. The name of the project is 10 100 (or Project 10 100). It is recollecting ideas from participants all over the world. One may register until October, 20th. The five winning ideas will share the prize: 10 million dollar financing to make the ideas happen.
Ideas should be presented with few words, but a video nay be attached. It is mandatory to be a private person; companies are not admitted. Google reserves the right to decide who will develop the winning ideas.
Ideas have to be focused on the following categories:
Community: What can be done to achieve that people communicate with each other, create communities and protect singular cultures?
Opportunity: What can we achieve that families and people have access to better opportunities?
Energy: What can be done to promote a more ecological and sustainable ecosystem worldwide?
Health: How can we achieve that people live longer and with a higher quality of life?
Education: What can we do to achieve that more people have access to a better education?
Home: How can we achieve that everybody has a safe place to live at?
Miscellaneous: Sometimes, good ideas cannot be included in any of these categories.
The ideas will be evaluated according to the following criteria:
Scope: How many people will benefit of this idea?
Impact: What we be the impact on people? Is this an urgent need? Give an explanation.
Feasibility: Can the idea be executed within one or two years?
Efficacy: Is this a simple yet profitable idea? Explain how and why.
Effect: For how long will the idea be effective?
This idea contest is part of the 10th anniversary celebrations of Google. The contest is very much related with Google´s social objectives, which the company is looking after from the moment of its foundation.
Among all the ideas received, the 100 best will be chosen. Starting on January, 27th, these ideas will be made public for voting. It will be the voters who elect the 20 best ideas. Finally, a group of experts, still to be decided will choose the five final winners.
