Public awareness of the importance of protecting our environment and recycling is, luckily, constantly growing, and we have shared many brilliant ideas here like the one for organic clothing made of plastic collected from the garbage. Now we share another innovative idea that seeks to take advantage of fruit waste to create fiber that is used to make clothes.
The idea, which won the Global Change Award 2018 of the H&M Foundation, comes from Circular Systems, a company that has created the biorefinery Agraloop, where waste from food crops is transformed into natural fiber products. They have detected that pineapple and banana crops, linen stem, hemp stem and cane stalk generate over 250 million tons of fiber each year, which could perfectly be used to manufacture clothing.
