Emprende is an ideas contest organised by the Carlos III University of Madrid and aimed at creating companies with a scientific and technological basis. This year will see the fourth edition of this award for entrepreneurs and university students who may contribute innovative ideas within their corresponding sectors. The objectives of the contest are: to support and disseminate entrepreneurial culture among the body of university students, make use of the innovative potential of the University for the generation of new companies, enhance and promote the creation of scientific and technological companies and apply new formulae for the creation of jobs and the transfer of technology.
The process of the Emprende idea contest last a whole year, during which those entrepreneurs with the best ideas will undergo a training process, just as the business ideas presented will undergo a process whereby the projects will be placed in such a situation as to be put into practice.
Ever since its first celebration in the year 2002, a total of 136 entrepreneurs have participated in this initiative. The winners of the last edition include the 3G-Ticket projects created in response to the new services of the 3 G mobile telephony terminals, and the GO Optimizations SL project, based on the development of information search and management, optimisation of installations and search of potential within the area of renewable energy sources.
The prizes of the contest range from the 12,000 euros given the winner to the 6,000 euros of the third prize. The projects, furthermore, will be able to benefit from the resources of the Business Incubator of Carlos III University of Madrid, which is located in the Leganés Tecnológico Science Park
