Diageo is a company based in the U.K., marketing spirit brands (J&B, Smirnoff, Cacique, Johnnie Walker, Baileys…).
In Spain, their national company has been organizing now for quite a few years the Diageo Award for Young and Brilliant Economical Journalism. The award was created to award and give recognition to the work of media professionals specialized in economic journalism, contributing in a decisive way to develop an economic culture of quality. Since its creation, many journalists have wanted to take part in this award, which has become one of the most significant and important awards within Spanish journalism. Last year, more than 80 candidates from all over Spain presented their work.
This year, and within the company’s strategy on promoting awareness on alcohol abuse and associated risk situations, Diageo has decided to award a consolation prize within this year’s Premio Diageo Joven y Brillante 2009 de Periodismo Económico, with 3.000 Euro, to the best article on Corporate Social Responsibility.
Candidates may present their work individually and separately in both categories (award and/or consolation prize), bearing in mind the clauses of each category.
Registration ends on April, 3rd. The prizes (12.000, 6.000 and 4.000 Euro and the consolation prize) will be awarded during a celebration in Madrid on June, 18th.
Diageo is the Spanish pioneer in awareness campaigns on alcohol abuse. It has invested more than 12 million Euros in this kind of initiatives, with the aim of fighting the bad use of alcohol and its consumption by people below 18 years.
