Bed, Bath and Beyond, in cooperation with Edison Nation, is calling for a contest specifically devoted to women as homage to the first patent granted to a woman, whose 200th anniversary we are celebrating now. The objective of American Women of Invention is to motivate innovation in the domestic sphere, via products or solutions to problems related with themes like decoration, laundry or organization and management of spaces.
The aim is to give free way to feminine innovation, which many times stays in the shadow because of prejudice or lack of interest by the authors of the ideas. But history is full of great inventions made by women.
Edison Nation will handle the incoming entries. This is an on-line community dedicated to the promotion of innovation and supplying resources to American inventors, establishing contact between them and industry.
Each participant may present as many ideas as he wants, but all of them have to be registered before April, 30th. From that date onwards, Edison Nation will choose the best and present them to Bed, Bath and Beyond, who will check the feasibility of each product or idea, because they want to sell these products or services through their shops of home appliances, beauty and children’s products.
The winning idea will be awarded 2.500 $ plus a commission payment depending on later sales of the products. In order to register an idea, it has to comply with certain requirements, like being unique, innovative and useful; ideas have to be registered on the website of Edison Nation and pay a registration fee of 25 $.
