Zerokills, the brilliant idea that won the Reddot design awards 2009

The idea we bring you today is the winner of 2009’s prestigious Reddot design awards, which is not surprising given that designer Kim Sungi proposes something that is truly brilliant. It is called Zerokill and it consists of solar-powered lamps with a warning light system for wild animals near roads.

These lamps have a solar panel making them self-sufficient, as they store energy during the day that they use at night, when drivers’ visibility is limited. The lamps use infrared sensors to detect animals that enter their scope, and give off light signals to warn drivers of the presence of an animal that could cross the road and provoke an accident.

This brilliant idea helps save the lives of animals as well as that of drivers.
